It is quite obvious that the way we pass the faith on to the next generations has changed considerably over the years. The family and school support to faith formation has significantly eroded. One of the results is that many Catholic children and teenagers are not automatically receiving and Sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist). This is obviously a cause for concern – but also provides new opportunities.
One of the beautiful things that we are seeing is that an increasing number of young adults in their 20s and 30s are requesting to be prepared for Confirmation and to receive Communion for the first time.
What a blessing it is to have them make this request for themselves! What a blessing it is for us to accompany those requests! We currently have five young adults preparing for Confirmation. A small group of parishioners will be meeting with these adults on their preparation journey.
If you, or anyone you know, would like more information about what we are doing, please get in touch with Julie at the parish office.
