Located in the heart of Aylmer, Quebec, at 160 Rue Principale, J9H 3M8, Saint Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church is a welcoming and faith-filled community dedicated to living out the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Rooted in Christ, we strive to grow in love, deepen our faith, and joyfully serve one another and our wider community. Our parish is a vibrant spiritual home where individuals and families come together to celebrate the sacraments, participate in meaningful worship, and engage in faith-based activities. Through prayer, outreach, and fellowship, we seek to build a strong, compassionate, and inclusive community guided by Catholic teachings and traditions. At Saint Mark’s, we offer regular Masses, sacramental preparation, faith formation programs, and opportunities for service and evangelization. Whether you are new to the area, returning to the Church, or looking for a place to deepen your relationship with God, we warmly invite you to join us in worship and community life. Come and be a part of our parish family—where faith grows, love abounds, and joy is shared!

Knights are involved with your community; they support your local Catholic Church and its causes, while deepening their faith; and they believe in protecting and enhancing their family life.

The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic lay organization with nearly 2 million members in over 16,000 councils located throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Poland, and several other countries.

Our Council History

On April 16th 2013, St. Mark the Evangelist Council # 15678 was founded in Aylmer Quebec.

Presently there are 64 registered members including several of the founding group. We have an elected executive of 11 members. Meetings are held each month to discuss, plan and organize events and activities. Decisions are based upon votes taken at meetings. The majority of members are parishioners of St. Mark’s Parish.

Parish Involvement

Members of the Knights are committed to sustainment and growth of our Parish and participate in ministries and committees. Some members are extraordinary Ministers of Communion, Lectors, Ushers, Counters, serve on Finance, Wardens and Pastoral committees.

Parish Activities

We are also involved in the community of the Parish.

We help during the Lenten Station of the Cross, Liturgy of the Word, Remembrance Day ceremonies at the Cenotaph, leading the Rosary every Wednesday during the month of May, handing out Carnation to all Mothers on Mother’s Day and volunteer at the Church property fall and spring clean up and helping with Guingolée.

Charitable Donation

Money raised from events and fundraising are donated to both Catholic and non Catholic charities and organizations and allocated based on total funds raised during the year.

We purchased and installed the Defibrillator at St. Marks Church.

Made donations to:

La Maison des Collines in Masham,

Lac Mégantic Disaster,

St Vincent de Paul Aylmer,

Coats for Kids program,

St. Mark’s Church Maintenance , Kitchen Reno

Aylmer Foodbank

Benefit of being a Knight

Being a Knight is about helping others and enjoying the company of brother Knights and their families. The most important benefit is the sense of accomplishment and personal satisfaction one receives when one makes a positive difference in the lives of others, whether it is in the parish, in the community, to an individual or to families.

The Knights of Columbus rank in the top 5% of life insurance companies in North America with almost $100 billion of insurance in force and nearly $20 billion in asset. No insurer in North America is rated more highly.

This strength enables first class insurance coverage for its members and families, should a member participate. It also gives the organization the ability to financially support numerous large projects consistent with the order’s aim.

Other benefits include a free accidental death policy for members/spouses, access to various scholarships or bursaries for dependants, beneficial rates for TFSA, RRSP, RIF, savings accounts and disability insurance programs.

Why become a Knight?

In today’s world, many Catholic men are looking to fulfill their desire to spend meaningful time with their family, to serve their community and their Church, and to grow in their faith. Joining the Knights of Columbus provides these men and their families with volunteer opportunities and activities that accomplish these goals. If you are such a man who is dedicated to making a difference, then membership in the Knights of Columbus is for you.

Additionally, the Knights of Columbus also offers a portfolio of top-quality life insurance, long-term care, and annuity products exclusively for members and their families.

History of the Knights of Columbus: Father Michel J McGivney

Michel J McGivney was born in 1852 in Waterbury Conn. His parents had arrived in the great 19th century wave of Irish immigrants.

At age 16, Michel traveled to St. Hyacinth, QC and registered in the French run College and prepared himself to apply for seminary admission. Later he enrolled in Our Lady of Angels Seminary in Niagara University. After two academic years he moved to the Jesuit run St. Mary’s College in Montreal and then continued in Baltimore. He was ordained on Dec. 22, 1877.

As a parish Priest, Father McGivney always cared for the poor and in 1882 with some Parishiners he formed the Order, Known today as Knights of Columbus. “The New World to Discover”

As a result of his impact on society, Father McGivney is being considered by the Vatican as a Saint , and now addressed as Blessed Father Michael McGivney.

For Membership, please contact:

Josef Doerig: 819-561-0127

André Sirois : 819-685-1478

Links

www.chevaliersdecolomb.com

www.kofc.org

www.facebook.com/kc15678
